The residents of the Italian city of Ladispoli near Rome are urged to stay at home after a lion escaped from a local circus.
Alessandro Grando, mayor of Ladispoli, issued the warning on social media, stating that the police are assisting circus staff in searching for the animal, which is said to have been tracked to nearby waterways.
”A lion has escaped from the circus, be vigilant and avoid moving for the time being,” he wrote.
In order to preempt any potential complaints from residents, the mayor also pointed out that he had not approved the presence of a circus with lions in the city, but he also does not have the authority to stop it.
