Leo Carlsson, a 19-year-old who will celebrate his birthday at the end of December, is not only the youngest Swede but also the youngest player in club Anaheim’s history to score a hat-trick in an NHL game.
According to nhl.com, only 19 players in the history of the North American hockey league have achieved this feat at a younger age than 19.
However, his three goals were not enough for a victory as the visiting team Philadelphia ultimately won 6-3. Anaheim came closest at 3-5 after Carlsson’s power play goal in the third period before Philadelphia definitively sealed the victory when Anaheim pulled their goalkeeper.
”It would have been even better if we had won, but of course, it’s great to score three goals. Have I had a chance to check how many text messages I’ve received yet? No, but it’s also early morning in Sweden,” he says.
