USA undviker inte nedstängning

Talmannen i USA:s representanthus, Mike Johnson, lyckades få igenom ett förslag som gör att statsapparaten i landet inte kommer stängas ned.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Tuesday in favor of a proposal regarding funding for the government’s expenses, avoiding a looming shutdown of the government.

The approval of the proposal is considered a victory for the newly appointed Speaker, Republican Mike Johnson, who managed to persuade enough Democrats to vote in favor of the proposal when conservative Republicans from his own party said no.

The House’s approval means that the government will be able to continue functioning until the beginning of next year. Now, the proposal only needs to be approved by the Senate before the weekend, and then signed by President Joe Biden before it takes effect.

”Ensuring that the government continues to function is a matter of conscience for all of us. We owe it to the American people,” Mike Johnson said earlier on Tuesday at a press conference at the Capitol.
