Snö och is i Tyskland – fatala konsekvenser

Two people have died as a result of heavy snow and severe slippery conditions in Germany. In Wiesbaden, students had to stay overnight at a school because they couldn’t get home by bus.

A low-pressure area over southern Germany is quickly moving eastwards, and after that, cold air is coming, the meteorologists from the German weather service DWD inform.

In the city of Schwäbisch Hall, a man died in a head-on collision on a snowy road on Monday evening and another driver died in an accident outside Koblenz.

In the district of Rheingau-Taunus in Hessen, residents are advised to stay at home on Tuesday due to life-threatening situations as trees fall and branches break off.

On Monday evening, several drivers had to be rescued from their cars as they couldn’t get out.

– The situation is extraordinary, said Michael Ehresmann, adding that trees are falling ”like matchsticks”.
