Politician Robert Thunfors, who specializes in healthcare issues, is the opposition leader and the second vice-chairman of the regional board. However, he is now taking a timeout from politics to address symptoms of exhaustion.
”Since the summer, I have been experiencing symptoms of exhaustion, which I have been working on,” he wrote in a press release.
He stated that he had already reduced his political commitment to avoid ”hitting the wall,” as he described it. However, this did not help, so he has decided to abstain from his political work entirely for two months.
Mental Health Issues
After the timeout, Robert Thunfors will consider whether to take sick leave or not. If sick leave becomes necessary, the regional council will appoint an acting opposition leader in February.
”I also want to contribute to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health issues. It is important that more people dare to talk about this increasing societal problem,” says Robert Thunfors.
