Six Palestinians are reported to have been shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the al-Fara refugee camp in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
”The fighting intensified when (Israeli) forces stormed the camp, intense shooting was ongoing and explosions were heard,” the Palestinian news agency Wafa writes.
Israel’s military has not yet commented on the incident.
The West Bank, along with Gaza, is considered one of the Palestinian territories that were supposed to be given some autonomy under the Oslo Accords of 1993 and 1995. Gaza is ruled by the terror-designated Hamas, and it is there that the ongoing war is primarily taking place. The West Bank is governed by the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority and the secular organization Fatah – but is largely occupied by Israel. The war has exacerbated the cycle of violence there as well.
