Sogndal municipality in Norway is isolated as violent storms have caused floods and landslides in the southwestern part of the country, according to Norwegian media.
All roads out of the municipality, located approximately 220 kilometers northeast of Bergen, have been blocked and a crisis team has been formed, said mayor Stig Ove Ølmheim to NRK.
”We are receiving many reports of houses and commercial properties with water in the basement. We are doing what we can to help as many as possible,” he said.
Shortly after 18:00 on Saturday evening, 25 roads had been closed in Vestland and Rogaland in the western part of the country due to several landslides, according to the Norwegian equivalent of the Swedish Transport Administration.
In Sogndal, up to 150 households have lost or will lose their drinking water during Saturday evening, reported NRK.
”There is an acute leak in a water pipeline that is quite serious. We have all available resources on the task, but we do not know the cause,” said mayor Stig Ove Ølmheim.
