Kalle and Jerker, whose real names are something else, regularly travel to Ukraine and have been doing so since the war broke out.
”At the beginning of the war, people were much more willing to help, but now it has gone downhill. People have become tired,” says Kalle.
In addition to bringing supplies and medical equipment for almost two years, they have also trained soldiers fighting on the front lines in trauma care.
”Many call it war medicine. There are major bleedings in extremities, how to treat a punctured lung, and more,” says ”Jerker.”
”The little we do directly affects their lives,” says Kalle.
”Traveling down as a friend”
The soldiers they have trained have now become some of their closest friends. And every time they travel down, they try to visit them – no matter how close to the front lines they are.
”We show that we are not just here to deliver things or provide training, but also to travel down as a friend. It is very important. It raises their morale a bit,” says Kalle.
