Hector, who was fourth after the first run, looked like she was on her way to her best slalom placement in her career. She has never finished better than fourth, and at the last split time, she was 0.48 seconds ahead of the then-leading American A J Hurt. But then she lost almost a whole second, without any clear mistakes, until the finish line.
Hector eventually finished 6th, 1.31 seconds behind today’s dominant winner Petra Vhlova. A clearly approved performance by the giant slalom specialist Hector.
