Socialdemokraterna want state guarantees for the Swedish defense industry in order to increase the production of ammunition for Ukraine.
According to party leader Magdalena Andersson, the needs are large and urgent, and the time has come to establish direct production of ammunition for Ukraine in Sweden. Social Democrats therefore believe that the government must act to create new production lines in Sweden focusing on standard ammunition intended for Ukraine. According to the Social Democrats, the guarantees must extend until the end of the war.
”We will continue to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people until the last Russian soldier has left (Ukraine),” Andersson said in her speech at the National Conference of Defense in Sälen.
She states that the state guarantees could be economic guarantees or the state placing large long-term orders for military equipment, so that the defense industry dares to build up greater production capacity.
”We can discuss the design of the guarantees and what is required to quickly increase production,” said Andersson during the Q&A session after her speech.
