Striden om att bli kulturhuvudstad år 2029 har inletts


Kiruna and Uppsala are competing to become the European Capital of Culture in 2029.

Patric Kiraly, project manager in Uppsala, emphasizes the importance of the project and acknowledges Kiruna’s ambition while also highlighting Uppsala’s five years of work in developing their cultural project.

Emilia Töyrä, chair of the cultural and educational committee in Kiruna, emphasizes the uniqueness of Sami culture in Kiruna’s application and suggests that this gives them an advantage over Uppsala, as it represents the northern perspective of Sweden.
