Sverige tar hem sin andra raka stafettseger

Linn Svahn, Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson had ensured that Sweden’s first team led by a minute at the final exchange in Oberhof. But the comfortable distance shrank on the final stretch for Jonna Sundling.

German Victoria Carl closed in, getting closer at every split time. And when the 7.5 kilometer long stretch was nearing its end, Carl could see Sundling’s back.

But for Germany’s part, the relay would have needed to be even longer. Sundling ensured that Sweden won, 17.5 seconds ahead of Germany in second place. They managed to close the gap by 40 seconds on the final stretch.
