Ekman-Larsson toppar NHL:s backar som målskytt igen


Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored a rebound goal at the end of the first period. The 1-1 equalizer was his seventh goal of the season.

Only Vancouver’s Quinn Hughes has scored more goals as a defenseman in the league, with a total of nine goals. Ekman-Larsson is in second place among defensemen alongside Colorado’s Cale Makar, Los Angeles’ Drew Doughty, and Edmonton’s Evan Bouchard.

Tied for third place in the defenseman goalscoring chart are Pittsburgh’s Erik Karlsson and Buffalo’s Rasmus Dahlin with six goals.

In terms of defenseman points, it’s actually Victor Hedman who shares third place with Bouchard, with a total of 27 points. Hughes leads the defenseman points chart with 36 points, followed by Makar with 34 points.

Minnesota’s forward Joel Eriksson Ek scored the 2-1 goal against Edmonton and his teammate Marcus Johansson had two assists. However, their efforts were not enough for a win, as Edmonton won 4-3.

Minnesota defenseman Jonas Brodin left the ice after a hit at the beginning of the third period.
